As Intake Specialist at ELET, Emma’s role is to listen compassionately to new callers’ stories and determine whether ELET’s services may be appropriate for them. Coming from a background in social work and experience in the field of elder abuse, Emma is sensitive to the unique needs of elders and the family members who support them. Her strong commitment to social work ethics such as dignity and worth of human beings, social justice, and the importance of human relationships guides the work she does and who she is as a person. During intake calls she listens actively to the details of the person’s situation, asks about their goals, collects data about their medical and financial circumstances, and gets to know their values and priorities. She also offers reassurance that ELET can serve as a resource to help them overcome the challenges they face. If the caller’s needs are not within ELET’s practice areas, or if the caller chooses not to schedule a consultation, Emma directs them to other resources in the community so that they can get help addressing their concerns.

What is the problem you are best at solving for your clients?
When there are a lot of moving pieces in a situation it can be stressful and overwhelming for clients and can sometimes lead to feelings that goals may not be obtainable. I find that I can help clients work through these different pieces by reframing information in a way that feels easier to understand. I can empower those who I work with by normalizing their feelings that they are experiencing and providing them with a solid foundation of empathetic support.
What excites you about your work and the contribution you make to the ELET team?
I am excited to have the chance to hear stories from those who are looking for services. I truly value the time that I get to spend learning about others, and in my role as Intake Specialist I have the chance to help those who are reaching out determine the best possible course of action for what they need. I aim to actively contribute to the ELET team by being a positive, compassionate, and knowledgeable first point of contact for prospective ELET clients.
What do you love most about ELET?
The culture of ELET makes my heart fill with happiness! The team here really is just that – a team of dedicated, compassionate, honest, and ethical people who aim to advocate for those we serve in a meaningful way. Being a part of a company that fully embodies its mission is something I love.
Where can we find you when you’re not working?
When I’m not working you can find me spending time with family and friends, cooking and baking, and playing with my dog. I also enjoy traveling and exploring new places.
I come from a creative family and have a love for theater and the arts- particularly singing. I was in various choirs and took voice lessons for several years. I love to sing and am known to do so often!
